What Makes Prebiotin Different

A prebiotic is a natural plant fiber that provides fuel for the good bacteria growing in your colon or large bowel. The more the better. There is a simple but important difference where in the colon these prebiotics act. Here is a picture of the colon:

The Prebiotin Difference

Where FOS nourishes the right side of the colon only, and inulin nouishes the left side of the colon only; Prebiotin, with Oligofructose Eniched Inulin nourished the good bacteria throughout the Entire colon thus Optimizing the Prebiotic Effect. That is why we call it a Full-spectrum prebiotic!

The right side of the colon is where enormous bacterial activity occurs because this is the part of the colon that gets the first crack at the fuel coming in from the small bowel. There is considerable acidity here as well as the bacterial production of lots of good nutrients that the bacteria in this part of the colon provides to the colon itself as well as the body.

The left side of the colon is a bit more leisurely. For most of us there is, unfortunately, no acidity here, because most of the prebiotics we eat quickly get used up in the right side of the colon. In consequence different types of bacteria grow in the left colon, including the infamous ones that make the smelly, malodorus flatus smell-the hydrogen sulfide gases.

So, what does this have to do with Prebiotin?

There are just 2 commonly known and well researched prebiotics

  1. Oligofructose (FOS)
  2. Inulin

OLIGOFRUCTOSE, because of its short structure molecule, gets fermented very quickly in the right colon. There is none or little left for feeding the bacteria in the left colon.

INULIN on the other hand is a longer molecule that is used up more slowly so that much of it ends up in the left colon.

How do we know this?

It is really very simple. After taking inulin, scientists measure the acidity in the left colon and find more of it. More important than this, a person can take Prebiotin and find that the malodorous smell of flatus clears, not the amount of flatus, but just the noxious smell. The reason for this is that the bacteria species that make these smelly sulfide gases need a neutral environment. When it becomes acid from Prebiotin, these bacteria do not grow. When flatus smell clears, the person knows that this healthy acidity action is occurring in the left colon.

The bottom line is that the Prebiotin formula has significant amounts of both oligofructose and of inulin. You get positive bacterial action throughout the colon. It is why we call this product a full spectrum prebiotic formula. It is why medical researchers have overwhelmingly chosen this formula for their research. Products with just oligofructose or just inulin only give your colon half of what it really needs.
